BOW Down to the Lord by Carol Colvin
September 1, 2021, 1:45 PM

I will bow down toward Your holy temple and give thanks to Your Name for Your loving kindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word according to all Your name.
Psalm 138:2

We don’t think about bowing when we are in worship or praying in our homes. I pray a lot when I’m driving so that would not be practical! It seems old-fashioned for us to do so.
But as the scripture read, it is an act of worship where we pause in prayer and give thanks.
I found this explanation of taking the word BOW and applying it to our quiet time. Think of the letters in the word, BOW, the next time you stop to pray.
B is for bow. Bow before Him. Bring all of your cares to Him! Lay them at His feet. Humble yourself before Him. Honor Him as God. Bring Him your heartache, your family, your finances, your job, your life — all of your concerns. He works all things according to His wise and loving will. Cast all of your cares upon Him believing that He cares for you. He is able. We are not.
O stands for offload: Offload your anxiety. Humbly hold each thought up to the Word of God. Take your worry, your fear, your unbelief, your anger — all of the sin that is weighing you down and confess them to the Lord. He will gladly carry our burdens.
And most important, W if for worship. Worship the Lord. Take your eyes off of yourself and off of your circumstances and set them securely upon your Lord. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and come into His courts with praise. Thank Him from the bottom of your heart. Humbly acknowledge that you can't see all things, but He can. Worship Him in the spirit of holiness, praising and thanking God because He knows what is best. He is all powerful. He is in control. He knows what He is doing. He loves you like a Father!
Take a moment to practice taking these truths to heart. Read these verses from Psalm 96. Humbly bow before Him in your heart. He is God. He loves you with a love that knows no bounds. He is working on your behalf even as you pray. BOW before Him with reverence.
Psalm 96
1 Sing to the Lord a new song;
    sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name;
    proclaim his salvation day after day.
4 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
    he is to be feared above all gods.
8 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    bring an offering and come into his courts.
9 Worship the Lord in the splendor of his[a] holiness;
    tremble before him, all the earth.

For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever, Amen!
